The results are in, and although some votes have still not been counted, it would appear that SONIC is once again the favorite choice among voters to be this weeks "MVP of the Week". He narrowly defeats LEANPOCKET by a pair of votes.

SONIC takes an early dominating lead in the awards tracker, where he leads the rest of the pack by 6 points. This is no doubt due to winning MVP of the Week in back to back weeks.

This reporter went to the "Beach" to question voters on why SONIC seems to be running away with the awards, especially on Pacific:

"To me he single-handedly had the greatest impact on the outcome of his match," said one such beach-goer. "His gay and cowardly style, while a major liability in 6v6 has become a fountain of benefits in 3v3 gameplay."

Another voter only slightly agreed: "Sonic had a lot of clutch defuses, nades to stop plants, sneaky plants after [name removed for privacy] and the LT cleared in and he "Sonic'd" his way in."  The implication that the rest of the team carried Sonic to highlight plays was made obvious in the manner and tone spoken.

Moving forward to ESCAPE, it remains to be seen if others will step up their gameplay in convincing enough fashion to secure future MVP votes. SONIC himself could not be reached for comment. An automated voicemail response to his agents phone simply stated: "Mr. Sonic is away from the office right now, on important business concerning bitches and hoes, and doesn't have time for no petty bullshit. He will return at moment of his choosing, and no sooner."

To this reporter, one can only ask: Has fame started to go to his head? Only time will tell.

3v3 PRESENTED BY GUT & FRIENDS

3v3 PRESENTED BY PLAYA & FRIENDS!

Well folks, we've wrapped up Week 2 in what turned out to be an exciting bout of very close, narrow wins and heartbreaking upset matches! Pacific turned out to be (by those players interviewed) an entertaining, high-paced 3v3 map that despite it's flaws managed to produce some big challenges and exciting matchups.

In the first match of the week, played Monday (21 Aug), the undefeated BEASTMODE (2-0) took on the THROWBACKS (0-2). While the odds heavily favored BEASTMODE, the match became the first of the season to not end up in a 3-0. Sonic once again stood out as a top contributer to his teams victory, while Throwbacks just couldn't seem to hold out long enough in what turned out to be a heartbreaking 3-1 loss. Very close dynamite plants and defuses. Check out the MVP voting here, and match stats here....

AMBIGUOUSLY GAY TRIO  made their season debut on Tuesday (22 Aug), rolling through the v53 STOOGES in impressive fashion with a 3-0. STOOGES found themselves outgunned and outstratted. Leanpocket made his AGT debut after ringing for the RINGERS during Week 1, and what a debut he made! Check out the MVP polling here.  While several voters predicted a closer match, as you can see, the game was heavily won in AGT's favor.

Finally, BRNGNV narrowly defeated CANADA EH? in what had many called the "Match of the Week". While BRNGNV dominated with a 1.59 k/d ratio (vs a .63 for CANADA EH), the match kept everyone on their toes as CANADA EH managed to tie the match up each round. They had help from ringer Ryknow (v53 Stooges), who led the team in kill efficiency, although Bassman and Knifey both contributed huge plays. With the score tied up at 2-2, BRNGNV held off a final Canadian push to win the game 3-2. Check for MVP voting here. Stats are found here.

EDITORS BULLETS

MVP VOTING...LETS ROLL!

- TEAM KNIFEY RENAMED TO BackRageNoGibsNoVives...we'll call them BRNGNV here...

- Canada Eh is clearly in need of a spawn timer. This was proven multiple times in their loss to Beastmode.

- Team Spuddy has renamed to "Ambiguously Gay Trio". As they play their first match for Week 2, we'll have to pay attention to just how "ambiguous" those tags will be.

- Fluke or real deal? v53 Stooges defeat of Throwbacks was a shock to most predictors who had called for a 3-2 Throwback victory. Week 2 may be a defining moment in their season as they face a [theoretically] very tough opponent in Ambiguously Gay Trio.

- Caffeine showed this week that his doc runs can be every bit as exciting as Eights or Kittens.

- Gut proved that he can carry a shoutcast without Warwitch.

- Speaking of shoutcasts, Eights and Spuddy sounded like naturals during their guest appearances.

POLLS OFFICIALLY CLOSED...WEEK 1 MVP GOES TO...

- READY UP RENAMED TO RINGERS...for obvious reasons!...(they still need to "ready up", tho...)

- Ambiguously Gay Trio looked very impressive in their season debut. They may have the strongest roster in the league...btw, those tags aren't very ambiguous, clearly representing their namesake well.

- Heartbreaking loss for Throwbacks. Extremely close rounds for the most part. Beastmode continues to plow through their schedule...

- Drama unfolding on Facebook. While the shit talking started lightheartedly enough prior to Week 1, it seems that before Week 3 even starts there are plenty of rivalries to watch for!

- Gut receives a shoutcast grade of B-. Good content and a talented shoutcast ensemble only barely overshadow his awful looking config...

WINNER ANNOUNCED FOR MVP/WEEK 2!

WEEK ONE REVIEW - 18 Aug, 2014

SONIC - BEASTMODE

Week two is upon us, as is the voting for Week 1 MVP of the Week, with Sonic narrowly defeating Caffeine (Throwbacks) 6-4. Voters were not swayed by the relative low amount of kills compared to other players, as they appeared to place more importance to stats like "efficiency" and "gibs". It didn't hurt that his team dominated their opponents 3-0. While stats alone don't tell the whole story, it was clear that voters felt he had the best performance of the week.

When interviewed on how he felt about winning the first MVP of the Week award, Sonic responded with "Obviously I'm the Lebron of the tournament. Chicks love me, the players love me. China loves me. It's whatever."

The first week of official tournament games is now in the books, and teams begin to settle in for the next six weeks of seasonal play. In a somewhat surprising fashion, there were no truly contested games as each match ended with a 3-0 score. It remains to be seen if matches will continue to be as lopsided score-wise as they were before.

The first match, featuring the THROWBACKS versus V53 STOOGES, resulted in a 3-0 STOOGES win, Although a match record was set by THROWBACKS for the longest hold on Frostbite so far (8:08), and despite a thrilling ninja doc run by Caffeine, they couldn't come back to overcome the superior guns of STOOGES.

In the second match held on 14 July, 2014, the last-minute-named BEASTMODE faced off against CANADA EH. The final score, although 3-0, did not reflect some of the extremely close plays that could have changed the outcome of the game. In one such instance, during a CANADA EH document grab, they decided to push short despite not knowing BEASTMODE's spawn time. As fate would have it, BEASTMODE spawned just as the doc runner was passing through Axis spawn, and the Allies were cut down in quick fashion. BEASTMODE would set a map record for fastest doc cap with 1:26.

The third match, played two days later, featured the first use of a ringer (Snitch, who replaced an absent Scrilla for READY UP), although this made little difference as READY UP rolled away with a 3-0 victory over Team KNIFEY. Team KNIFEY just couldn't seem to rebound after a near doc-cap was returned by READY UP at the transmitter.
